A wide array of traditional Vietnamese cakes, such as two-colored pancake (banh xeo), five-colored cylindrical sticky rice cake (banh tet), and steamed palm sugar rice cake, are being showcased at a tourism festival in Can Tho City, located in the Mekong Delta region, drawing throngs of visitors.
The municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on Monday joined hands with the People’s Committee of Phong Dien District under the city to roll out the 10th Phong Dien - Can Tho Ecotourism Festival.
The fest takes place to respond to the World Tourism Day on September 27.
Within the framework of the fest, a cake-making contest is expected to improve the festive atmosphere and please visitors.

The city’s annual event is meant to popularize cuisine and unique ecotourism products in the district among domestic and international travelers.
Nguyen Trung Nghia, chairman of the Phong Dien District administration, said that visiting the district, dubbed ‘the green lungs of Can Tho City,’ tourists can immerse themselves in fresh air and stunning natural landscapes, while savoring a variety of specialties and southern folk cakes.
“The fest is aimed at spurring the district’s green tourism development, helping the district promote its value and potential for tourism, and beefing up the number of tourist arrivals in the city,” he said.

The festival, which will last until Thursday, features 20 main activities, including a cake-making competition, an e-vehicle parade, folk games, and a composite boat race.
The fest also includes a space to exhibit One Commune One Product items.
