Resort staff tell stories about culture, cuisine of Vietnam's Quang Nam Province
Tai Le, a cook at 1552 Bistro Restaurant at Hoiana Shores golf course, adds new flavors to traditional specialties in this supplied photo.

Hoiana, a resort-entertainment-golf complex in Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam appeals to a niche market of guests looking for more authentic experiences through stories about the local culture and cuisine as told by the resort’s enthusiastic staff.

As part of the resort’s ‘Let’s Meet’ campaign – an initiative aimed at welcoming tourists back to the province following Vietnam’s second coronavirus (COVID-19) wave – the resort is doing its part to help locals and tourists alike form connections with the province’s unique culture.

Tai Le, a cook at the 1552 Bistro Restaurant at the Hoiana Shores golf course, is just one of the many staff members sharing their stories with guests.

Le particularly loves sharing the history of mi Quang, a turmeric noodle dish popular in the region.

Another storyteller at the resort, Andy, works as a bartender at Hoiana Suncity’s Mot-Hai-Bar, where he prepares mi Quang and Magic Lantern-themed cocktails while sharing stories with guests about his upbringing in Hoi An Ancient Town.

Thach Dao, Hoinana’s executive chef, ensures each of the resort’s dishes is prepared with the same love his mom poured into every meal she cooked when he was a child.

Dao’s dishes bring the flavors of the ancient Hue dynasty to life on the plate while the stories of time spent cooking with his mother as a child bring the food to life in each guest’s imagination.

His specialty is chao tom (shrimp paste on sugarcane), a Quang Nam favorite, featuring sweet sugarcane and local aromatic spices.

Alex Tan, a Malaysian choreographer, fell in love with Quang Nam because of its architectural and cultural features and the peaceful life of local people.

He uses that love each time he works with Vietnamese artists and dancers on performances honoring the quintessence of Quang Nam Province.

For Kim Hue, Hoiana’s guest relations supervisor, the best time of her life is when she learned to make toys from coconut leaves with her father.

Carrying a pride of her homeland and its hospitality, Hue, a native of Hoi An Ancient Town, now shares her childhood memories with guests at Hoiana Hotel & Suites.

Hoiana’s ‘Let’s Meet’ campaign focuses on promoting local cultural traditions.

The campaign also has plans to launch exchange events for the province’s youth.
