The maiden double-decker water bus started operating along the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, captivating both tourists and dwellers.

The double-decker boat service is the latest tourism product of the city to bring a thrilling river cruise to visitors.

Late on Saturday afternoon, residents of Ho Chi Minh City were wowed by the appearance of a double-decker boat floating down the Saigon River.

The boat, named Saigon WaterGo, stands out for its distinctive and appealing design, featuring an open, roofless upper section that allows passengers to enjoy panoramic views of the southern metropolis.

As one of the first passengers aboard the open-top double-decker water bus, Tran Thi Phuong Thao, a resident of Binh Thanh District, said that the river cruise was so exhilarating.

“This is my first time to admire the entire city at sunset on such an open-top boat,” Thao said.

Nguyen Kim Toan, director of Daily Company, which manages water buses and double-decker boats, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the concept for the double-decker boat service was inspired by the desire to provide residents and visitors with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Saigon River.

The introduction of the open-top double-decker boat service coincided with ongoing beautification efforts along both banks of the river.

The aim is to bring residents and tourists closer to the waterway, fostering a deeper appreciation for both the river and the city.
