The fishing port in An Thoi Ward, Phu Quoc Island City, off the coast of Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam comes alive each day with the hustle and bustle of fishermen buying, selling, and exchanging goods, while boat owners prepare to head out to sea, hopeful for a bountiful catch of fish and squid.

An Thoi fishing port has long been a hotspot for local fishermen to trade their catches.

Early-morning visitors to the market are presented with a wide selection of squid, crabs, snails, and other seafood.

“An Thoi fishing port bustles with life and labor activities in the early morning,” said Tran Qui Khanh, a fisherman from An Thoi Ward.

“Fishing boats return from sea with large catches of fresh fish and squid which they can sell at reasonable prices.

“This port has provided stability for my life and for the community.

"The money I earn from selling fish here pay for school fees of my children."

The fishing port is always busy, with people packaging fish for delivery to local markets and restaurants, as well as for transport to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Boats ferrying domestic and foreign tourists to nearby rafts and islands add to the lively atmosphere.
