Tourists have flocked to an abyss in Tay Hoa District, Phu Yen Province, south-central Vietnam for its snow-white waterfall and clear blue waters that resemble a natural infinity pool set amid scenic mountains and forests.
The Phun Abyss in Tay Hoa District's Hoa My Tay Commune is nestled in the Da Den mountain range, fed by streams from the Ca Pass in the upper reaches of the Banh Lai River.
The area is renowned for its stunning natural scenery, with a clear lake surrounded by towering vertical cliffs.

Each season offers a unique beauty.
Le Quy Tai, a local tour guide, noted that the best time to visit Phun Abyss is from February to September.

While the distance from Tuy Hoa City, the capital city of Phu Yen Province, to Phun Abyss is manageable, the 2km path from the parking area to the edge of the valley is challenging, requiring visitors to navigate a rough stream and many cliffs.
“There are nearly 10 natural lakes where visitors can swim,” Tai said.

“Notably, some large lakes resemble infinity pools, with visitors often spending hours soaking in the cool waters or relaxing by the stream for a fish massage.
“The heart-shaped lake, with a depth of nearly 30 meters, situated in front of a local waterfall, is the most popular spot.”

Le Thao Ly, a 21-year-old visitor from Ho Chi Minh City, visited Phun Abyss with friends early last month, describing the scenery as wild, poetic, and captivating.
“The lakes here are surrounded by dense forest," Ly said.

“I enjoy stand-up paddleboarding [SUP] or sitting on the rocks reading.”
Tai added that visitors can enjoy picnics, barbecues, and trekking in the nearby forests.

However, he urge everyone to dispose of waste responsibly and return it to the designated collection points.
As Phun Abyss remains relatively undeveloped for tourism, visitors participating in water activities are required to wear life jackets and follow local guides to ensure safety.
