A jackfruit wooden house, located under the cool green canopy of Thai Lai Village in Hoa Nhon Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City, central Vietnam, has stood for over 200 years, retaining its ancient architecture.

Tich Thien Duong House, built in a traditional Vietnamese architectural style, features three main living spaces, two rooms, and an ancient yin-yang tiled roof.

The house’s owner, 69-year-old Do Huu Minh, said it has been passed down through six generations, with him being the fourth.

The structure is built with 36 large wooden pillars, rafters, and beams, all meticulously crafted by artisans from Kim Bong carpentry village in Hoi An City, located in neighboring Quang Nam Province.

Constructed from durable, termite-resistant jackfruit wood, the house has withstood the test of time for over two centuries.

A prominent feature is a large horizontal plaque inscribed with the words “Tich Thien Duong” in the central public space, which advises future generations to accumulate virtue, perform good deeds, and live kindly.

Minh’s family has carefully preserved much of the house’s architecture and furniture to maintain its historical value.

The house has become a popular tourist attraction for those seeking ancient architecture.

“I feel a sense of peace when entering the house,” said visitor Nguyen Van Hung.

“Each roof tile, each brick, and each wooden pillar seems to tell a story from the past.”

The 4,000-square-meter garden surrounding the house is also a key draw, with many ancient trees offering shade.
