What's it like to trek through sand dunes, forests for sunrise at Vietnam's easternmost cape?

Trekking through sand dunes and forests to catch the first sun ray of the day at Vietnam's easternmost cape is the experience of a lifetime to many travelers.
Mui Doi (Doi Cape), a coastal cape located on Hon Gom Peninsula in Van Thanh Commune, Van Ninh District, south-central Khanh Hoa Province, is the easternmost point on the mainland of the Southeast Asian country.

To get to Mui Doi, tourists can depart from Dam Mon Village in Van Thanh Commune and trek through three kilometers of coastal sand dunes.

Following a brief pause, they will embark on an approximately eight-kilometer journey along a forest road, traversing steep slopes and rugged terrain, challenging the stamina of any tourist venturing on this path.

According to Nguyen Thanh Tam, a local guide, this difficult route requires participants to have a strong spirit and good endurance to be able to finish it.
Besides, they also need to prepare adequate water and electrolytes to ensure their physical strength during the trip.
Overcoming that challenge, tourists can stop and rest overnight at Rang Beach.

From the beach, tourists walk around 500 meters to Vietnam's easternmost cape to immerse themselves in the beauty of the sunrise.

Pham Vu Thanh An, a middle school teacher in Nha Trang City, the capital of Khanh Hoa, deemed the journey well worth the effort.
"This is an extremely interesting and sacred journey,” An said.
“I hope that in the future, local authorities will pay more attention and invest more in tours and experiences to Mui Doi, so that all the Vietnamese people can set foot in the easternmost point on the country's mainland.”
