This commune known as “heaven’s gate” in central Vietnam

Around 40 kilometers from An Lao District in the south-central province of Binh Dinh, the An Toan Commune is dubbed as a “heaven’s gate’ thanks to its stunning beauty.

The road leading to the commune is also one of the most beautiful routes to explore in Binh Dinh Province, especially for motorcyclists.

Located more than 1,000m above sea level, An Toan Commune offers cool air as well as fresh and peaceful scenery all year round.

The commune is home to the An Toan Nature Reserve which has an area of over 22,000 hectares.

More than half of the reserve has diverse primary forests which house rare animals and plants listed in Vietnam’s Red Book.

Sunrise and sunset are the best time of the day to enjoy the scenery as visitors get to watch the sea of clouds in the valley, making the commune an ideal place for photo seekers.

Currently, there are two homestays in An Toan Commune to accommodate tourists to the area.

Besides, local delicacies appear to be a magnet for visitors. 

With many rivers, streams, lakes, and favorable climatic conditions, An Lao District has a wide range of vegetables and aquatic food.

Nguyen Xuan Vinh, secretary of An Lao District Party Committee, said the district has plans to develop tourism for places with great potential, with the An Toan Nature Reserve being an important highlight.
