The administration of Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday wrote to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, seeking approval to hold fireworks displays to ring in the new year 2025.

The southern metropolis requested coordination from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of National Defense to grant permission for the fireworks shows in order to entertain residents and visitors during the holiday.

If the city’s proposal is endorsed, fireworks will light up the sky over the entrance of the Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City, an administrative district-level unit in the southern hub, above Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, and the Van Phuc urban area in Thu Duc from 0:00 to 0:15 on January 1, 2025.

The city also plans to host New Year’s Eve countdown events on December 31 at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, Bach Dang Wharf Park, and a floating venue on the Saigon River.

Art performances, along with various other festivities, will take place in District 12, Tan Phu District, and Binh Tan District, as well as in the suburban areas of Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be, and Can Gio.

These activities are scheduled for the nights of December 31 and January 1.
