Tran Nhan Tong Pedestrian Street in Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi, was officially put into operation on Friday night, offering locals a new destination for the New Year holiday.
The new promenade, the fourth of its kind in Hanoi, is designed to serve entertainment and cultural activities, thus promoting tourism in the Vietnamese capital, especially in the downtown district of Hai Ba Trung.
The pedestrian zone encompassing parts of Tran Nhan Tong Street and Quang Trung Street from Thien Quang Lake to Tran Binh Trong Street and the surrounding areas, together with Thong Nhat Park, forms a large walking area on about one hectare of land, including 0.48 hectare of water surface.
It is dedicated to pedestrians only on weekends, public holidays, and special events.
The sections that have been put into use are in the first phase of the pedestrian zone project, while the second phase is underway, according to the authorities.
