The ninth Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival kicked off on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1 on Friday evening with the participation of many high-ranking leaders, popular artists, beauty queens, athletes, and TV hosts.
Organized by the municipal Department of Tourisms and the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union, the festival is scheduled to run till the end of March.
Miss Vietnam H'Hen Nie, singer Kyo York, second runner-up at Miss Supranational 2022 Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen, and other popular artists, singers, and TV hosts are the ambassadors of the event.

In particular, this year's edition is accompanied by new ambassadors such as Ly Duc Trung - Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel; Luma Russo - Miss Charm 2023; Annabelle Mae McDonnell - first runner-up Miss Charm 2023; Olivia Tan – second runner-up Miss Charm 2023; Erina Hanawa - Miss Tourism World 2022; Le Thi Huong Ly - first runner-up at Miss Tourism World 2022.
Speaking at the event, Duong Anh Duc, vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that ao dai is not only a symbol of the beauty of the Vietnamese people but also reminds of a beautiful, friendly and gentle Vietnam.

“That endogenous power of ao dai is an endless source of inspiration for designers and artists across the country to join hands with the city to hold exciting Ao Dai Festivals that are desired by locals and tourists alike every March,” Duc said.
According to Duc, after eight years of organization, the Ao Dai Festival in Ho Chi Minh City has become the city's signature annual cultural tourism event.
The festival has nourished and helped to preserve the traditional gown, and has upheld the nation's traditional values.

It has also introduced international friends and travelers to the vibrant, safe, hospitable, and lovely city of Ho Chi Minh City, a modern destination with a rich cultural heritage.
During the ceremony, participants enjoyed 21 ao dai collections with hundreds of designs by famous brands and designers.
Throughout the fest, various activities including a parade, contests, an art program, and events for tourists, students, and local residents will be organized.
