What to do in Vietnam’s Lam Dong, Da Nang during upcoming long holiday

Da Nang City in central Vietnam and Lam Dong Province in the Central Highlands will organize a wide range of entertaining events to attract tourists in order to spur tourism during the forthcoming five-day holiday at the end of this month.

Public workers in Vietnam will enjoy a total of five days off from April 29 to May 3 to celebrate three public holidays: the Hung Kings Commemoration Day (April 29), Reunification Day (April 30), and International Workers' Day (May 1).

From April 28 to May 3, Da Nang will hold the 2023 Da Nang Beach Tourism Season at Bien Dong Park; in Son Tra Peninsula; and at My An, My Khe, T18 and Nguyen Tat Thanh beaches.

The events include the exhibition of art installations on the beach, a kite flying festival, a food festival, a traditional craft village festival, a sand sculpture competition, the 2023 Da Nang Color Race, the Summer Dance Camp, nighttime activities on My An beach, and more.

Meanwhile, Son Tra Peninsula will also host a number of other separate events, including the inauguration of the Son Tra inland wharf, a painting competition featuring red-shanked doucs for elementary school students in Son Tra District, a photo exhibition of the peninsula, as well as a program that encourages public participation in walking combined with trash pickup and recycling in order to create a green tourism image in Son Tra Peninsula, among others.

In addition, there will be an environment day at Nguyen Tat Thanh beach.

From April 29 to May 2, the Than Tai Mountain hot spring tourist area in Hoa Vang District will celebrate the Quang Da folklore festival with a variety of events, such as lion and dragon dances, traditional song performances, making 'to he' -- toy statuettes typically made of glutinous rice powder -- and a cultural exchange with Co Tu ethnic people.

From April 27 to May 3, Lam Dong Province will be hosting a tourism week themed 'Lam Dong - Majestic Plateau' in Da Lat City, and Lac Duong, Lam Ha, Duc Trong, Don Duong Districts.

During the week, there will be an opening ceremony, the Hoa Sen SoundFest 2023 international music festival, an exhibition about the culture of ethnic minorities in Lam Dong Province, an event celebrating Da Lat food, a photo exhibition showcasing people from the Central Highlands and coastal central regions, an event featuring folk art performances and a traditional costume show, a 'cong chien' (gongs) dance festival, a camping night with P'Ro ethnic people, and more.

Meanwhile, Bao Loc City, and Bao Lam, Di Linh, and Dam Rong Districts will organize the 2023 Bao Loc Championship cycling tournament, a folk dance festival of ethnic minorities, and a hot mineral spring tourism event.

Da Huoai, Da Teh, and Cat Tien Districts will host the 2023 Lam Dong paragliding competition, the 2023 Lam Dong tug-of-war competition, a cycling race, the 2023 Da Huoai Challenge sport event, as well as jointly organize the 35th Ho Chi Minh Television Cycling Tournament.
