A summer festival with a variety of activities and spectacular entertainment events will begin in Da Nang this Saturday, promising to transform the coastal city into Vietnam's summer tourism hub.

The Da Nang Department of Tourism has just announced a host of events and activities as part of the program of the summer festival

The fest will begin this Saturday and run for nearly two months, until August 15.

According to Truong Thi Hong Anh, director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism and co-organizer of the festival, there will be a series of community- and tourist-oriented events from June 11 through August 13.

As a result, the festival's main activities will include a street carnival parade, a music fest called Take me to the Sun, an international electronic music festival, a traditional cuisine and international beer exhibition, a street music program, an international yoga festival in 2022, and other exciting activities.

This summer, Da Nang anticipates the same number of visitors as last summer, and aims to attract 3.5 million visitors by the end of 2022 by providing a range of unique and distinctive festival events.

Accommodation and travel revenue are expected to be worth more than VND6.7 trillion (US$289 million).

The street carnival program, according to the organizers, will take place every Saturday and Sunday in June and July along the Han River.

The event will feature over 200 domestic and international artists, 10 floats replicating prominent landmarks such as the Dragon Bridge, Cham Sculpture Museum, cruise boats, and notable architecture works in the Ba Na Hills tourism area and other parts of Vietnam.

The light art performed on the floats and the company of artists acting along the vehicles will be the highlights of this show.

Meanwhile, the Take me to the Sun music festival will be held in July in Asia Park Square in Hai Chau District, with a capacity of 5,000 visitors, and will be expanded with an additional stage that have giant screens at the nearby 2-9 Square, with a capacity of up to 10,000 people.

The event is set to be a music concept that brings together modern folk music, EMD, pop, rock, and hip-hop, as well as many notable artists and stunning fireworks.

Finally, a 10,000-strong international electronic music fest will provide tourists with a dynamic and passionate musical environment, with the participation of well-known domestic and foreign DJs.
