An eatery in Hanoi has brought new experience to local diners as it prepares pho in an old coach.

The old coach-cum-restaurant sits at 368 Vo Chi Cong Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi, right before the Nhat Tan Bridge.

The eatery is owned by Hien, who is also its head chef. Diners at the eatery are often impressed by the special kitchen which serves bowls of pho to guests through a bus window.

Discussing the unique location of her pho kitchen, Hien said the idea came to her by chance.

Her husband’s friend at that time wanted to sell his old coach and Hien and her husband decided to buy it. They then transformed it into a kitchen.

Although the space of a coach is not as spacious as normal kitchens, its length is enough for the chef to prepare many bowls of pho each day.

Over the years, the couple has given the kitchen several coats of new paint to keep it looking fresh.

The most crowded time at the pho eatery is in the morning when guests typically enjoy their bowl of pho in a wide-open yard.

Hien said chicken she uses for her pho is top quality and is always bought from a relative in her hometown.

Some advised Hien to open a larger eatery, but she loves her current kitchen and its unique appeal.

She also believes it's a major draw for foodies.

Pho is the soul of Vietnamese cuisine. I will continue cooking my pho on this coach that made me popular,” Hien said.
