The 10th edition of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Beach Festival will take place between June 3 and 6 in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam, featuring more than 60 culture and art events and activities to promote local tourism and woo visitors to the coastal destination.

The provincial People’s Committee on Wednesday morning held a press conference at the Ho Chi Minh City Press Center to announce the festival.

With this year’s theme as 'Aspiration for Development,' the biennial event is expected to offer participants unforgettable moments by hosting basket boat competitions, traditional folk games, and a Cau Ngu (fish worshiping) Festival held by local people to pray for good weather and safe fishing trips.

There will also be four key art events at the festival, with their respective themes being 'Khanh Hoa - Brightening Aspirations,' 'Khanh Hoa - Love Connection,' 'Khanh Hoa - Unite Toward Future,' and 'Echoing Ocean,' according to Dinh Van Thieu, vice-chairman of the provincial People's Committee and head of the festival organizing board.

This 10th edition of the festival will feature a giant ocean-front stage equipped with a 600-square-meter LED screen. Several famous artists from home and abroad will perform during the festival.

In addition, a drone light show featuring 1,653 drones will be organized at the opening ceremony of the festival in order to introduce Nha Trang and Khanh Hoa Province to tourists through the language of light, said Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, director of the provincial Department of Tourism.

Apart from the drone light show, 5,000 people will participate in an 'ao dai' show, co-hosted by the Vietnam Women’s Union and the Department of Culture and Sports in Khanh Hoa in order to set a Guinness Vietnam Record.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at 8:00 pm on June 2 in Nha Trang’s April 2 Square.

During the festival, the province will also host NhaTrang Paragliding Festival from June 1 to 10, the Vietnam Tourism and Film forum, a food fest between June 3 and 6, and other tourism promotion events.

Last year, the tourism sector in Khanh Hoa made a significant recovery after suffering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The south-central province served an estimated 2.57 million visitors with overnight stays, 113 percent of its target and up 4.28-fold year on year.

It also earned close to VND14 trillion (US$598 million) in tourism revenue, surpassing 250 percent of its target and increasing 5.8-fold against the 2021 figure.

Khanh Hoa looks to welcome some four million tourist arrivals and book VND21 billion ($898 million) in tourism revenue in 2023, Thanh said.
