Who needs to pay US$3 million for a new Bugatti Chiron when you can make your own a hundredth of the price?

That is the idea a group of young Vietnamese had when they decided to create their own model of the super car.

The group of four, aged 21 to 38, are known for their YouTube channel Nhet TV, though they have recently drawn attention from car fans across the world thanks to their realistic replica of a Bugatti Chiron.

It took the group nearly one year and VND600 million (US$26,233) to create the replica super car at their home in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

In February, the group posted a video of their work on their YouTube channel Nhet TV, stunning audiences across the world with their attention to details while sculpting clay, plaster, fiber glass, and metal.

The team, which has no experience in car making, began by measuring on toy cars and then brought their measurements into life-size versions.

After finishing the bodywork on the replica, the group painted the car in black and blue, added a light system, and installed an engine from a 1998 Toyota Corolla.

According to the men, the replica wasn’t about creating a powerful car. Instead, it was just about designing something cool they could drive down the street.

A video documenting the team’s work has been praised by netizens, attracting more than 18.6 million views and 17,000 comments on YouTube.

During the year-long process, Nhet TV kept the audience updated on their work though videos detailing each step of the build.

They also released a video last weekend in which they documented designing the interior of their replica and repainting the car to white.

“Each color has its own beauty,” a group member shared.

“The black and blue Bugatti Chiron was impressive, but this version brings us a fresh new experience to the car we’ve been working on over the past year.

“The new surface of the car was also improved to be smoother than the previous version,” he added.

“We spent a week fixing the imperfections on the surface of the car. Now we’re satisfied.

“Of course, it cannot be compared to a real car, but it’s still cool to us.”

The group plans to cover the interior in leather in their next video.

Before the Bugatti Chiron replica, Nhet TV already stunned their subscribers with replicas of a Ferrari 488 GTB, a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a Mercedes-AMG SLS, a BMW S 1000 RR, Kawasaki ZX10R and more.

In introducing their video of the Ferrari 488 GTB replica, the group called themselves “supercar enthusiasts” and had a big love for Ferrari, but they couldn’t afford a real one so they created their own version for passion.

Nhet TV’s next projects could be a Pagani Huayra, a Ferrari LaFerrari or a Koenigsegg Jesko, they revealed.
