Vietnam to build comprehensive nature museum system

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has given the go-ahead for a project to develop the Vietnam National Museum of Nature into a system of such facilities by 2025.
The Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology had proposed such a project and the premier already approved it, according to the government’s news portal.
The existing Vietnam National Museum of Nature, located in Hanoi, will be turned into a leading research institution that plays a leading role in helping others in the system of national nature museums regarding research, collection, preservation, and exhibition of specimens.
The institution is also expected to raise visitors’ awareness of nature protection.
A new museum will be constructed either in the Quoc Oai urban zone in Hanoi’s Quoc Oai District, or the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in the Dong Mo tourism site, situated in the capital’s Son Tay District.
To cover an area of 32 hectares, the museum will include indoor exhibition sections, stone and geological parks, and lakes and aquariums.
The project is to be implemented in three phases spanning from this year to 2025.
Established in December 2012 in Cau Giay District, the current Vietnam National Museum of Nature has collaborated extensively with scientists from research institutions, universities, and agencies throughout the country, according to the museum’s website.
