Fruitful vineyards in Ninh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam are opening their doors to welcome tourists during the Grape – Wine Festival 2023, which is set to kick off on Thursday.
Farmers in Ninh Son, Ninh Phuoc, and Ninh Hai Districts have worked hard at their vineyards over the past few days to get them ready to receive visitors.
Tourists can not only explore the varieties of grapes but also savor the fresh fruits, aside from enjoying the festive atmosphere.
Nguyen Dinh Tri, who resides in Nhon Son Commune under Ninh Son District, grows numerous varieties of grapevines such as witch finger grape, ruby roman grape, green grape, and shine-muscat grape at his vineyard. These vines are laden with fruits.
“I have built a rest stop and a stall of food and drinks for guests when they visit my vineyard,” Tri said.
Thai An Village in Vinh Hai Commune under Ninh Hai District, which boasts a series of fruitful vines, is waiting for travelers on this occasion.
Nguyen Khac Phong, who has 30 years of experience in farming grapevines in Thai An Village, said, “Thanks to favorable climate conditions, grapes grown in the village taste sweet and crispy.
"Notably, they are bigger than those planted in other localities.
“The Thai An grape village has emerged as a must-visit destination for tourists to Ninh Thuan Province."
Dang Kim Cuong, director of the Ninh Thuan Province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that as part of the festival, the 'Impressive Grape Trellis' competition will be organized for the first time to offer new experiences to grape farmers, locals, and visitors.
“As many as 13 vineyard owners and cooperatives have registered to participate in the contest,” Cuong said.
Contestants will make a video introducing the address, size, and grape varieties of their vineyards and post it on social media.
The winners of the competition will be announced on Friday afternoon.
The fest titled 'Ninh Thuan – Land of Values' will feature multiple music and art performances on the opening night.
In addition, the province will set off fireworks for 15 minutes to launch the fest at April 16 Square in Phan Rang – Thap Cham City.
Within the framework of the event, the province will receive UNESCO’s recognition of the pottery art of Vietnam’s Cham ethnic group as intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection.
