Travel + Leisure, a prestigious U.S.-based travel magazine, ranked Vietnam’s Hoi An City, the 20th most wonderful city across the globe in 2022.

Hoi An, placing 20th with 88.92 out of 100 points based on reader votes, is the only city in Vietnam to make the list of the world's 25 best cities in 2022, according to Travel + Leisure magazine’s ranking.

The score was based on readers' and travelers' experiences at top tourist destinations throughout the world.

With a score of 91.73, Ubud, a tourist town on the Indonesian island of Bali, ranked third in the list.

Meanwhile, Thailand's Chiang Mai and Bagkok came in seventh and 24th, respectively.

India has its Jaipur and Udaipur holding the eighth and tenth place.

Osaka City in Japan was included in the list, holding the ninth place, while Tokyo and Kyoto placed 12th and 14th.

Other Asian cities on the list include Siem Reap in Cambodia, which ranked 15th, and Seoul in South Korea at 16th.

Notably, the city of Oaxaca in Mexico jumped to the top from the eighth place last year to become the best city in the world in 2022.

With a total score of 92.96, Oaxaca surpassed San Miguel de Allende City in Mexico at the top of the list.

This city is a dream destination for foreign travelers due to its distinctive and diversified food and culture, which are the result of the blending of several ethnic groups, according to Travel + Leisure readers.

Oaxaca is influenced the most by the indigenous Zapotec culture.

“When tourists come to experience the city of Oaxaca, locals make every effort to make them feel welcome," a reader said.

"The gorgeous museums, streets, cafés, and restaurants of the city also contribute to Oaxaca's win this year."
