The south-central coastal province of Binh Thuan will host the second Vietnam International Photography Festival 2023, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The ministry asked the Department of Fine Arts, Photography, and Exhibition to coordinate with the Binh Thuan Department Culture, Sports, and Tourism as well as other relevant agencies to hold the event.
It will include a photo contest, an exhibition titled 'Vietnam through the Lens of International Photographers,' and a seminar where photographers can exchange their experience.
The fest will contribute to diversifying activities of the National Tourism Year 2023 in Binh Thuan and photos to promote the province’s culture and tourism.
It is part of a project to build and promote the national brand for Vietnam’s photography in the 2020-30 period with an aim to introduce beautiful images of the country and its people and enhance international exchanges through photography.
Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism decided to organize the Vietnam International Photography Festival every two years.
The first edition was held in 2021 in Ninh Binh, northern Vietnam.
The organizer received 1,567 photos from 98 professional and amateur photographers from 19 countries and territories.
Of the total, 177 photos of 93 photographers were chosen for display at the exhibition 'Vietnam through the Lens of International Photographers,' which took place between November 26 and December 3, 2021.
The displayed photos vividly reflect the reality of life as well as the beauty of Vietnam and its people and culture.
They featured architecture, relic sites, festivals and traditional arts; landscapes; traditional crafts; mountainous areas; life in rural areas; waterways; and streets and modern lifestyle in Vietnam.
