The lush green and golden yellow landscapes have harmoniously curved along the mountain slopes within Sa Pa, a resort town in Lao Cai Province, northern Vietnam, for a while, indicating the arrival of a fruitful and abundant rice harvest.
In August and September each year, the terraced fields in the villages of Sa Pa Town, Lao Cai Province undergo a gradual transformation from green to a splendid golden hue, presenting breathtaking scenery.
Notably, this year, the terraced fields in Nam Cang Village of the namesake commune have ripened early compared to others.
A peaceful retreat
Situated approximately 35 kilometers away from the heart of the popular Sa Pa Town, Nam Cang draws tourists with its tranquil and picturesque landscape adorned with terraced fields embracing local homes.
In the vicinity of Sa Pa Town, a single rice crop is cultivated annually and its harvest is due in August and September.

The sight of numerous terraced fields, graced with alternating green and yellow patches that stretch toward the horizon, will leave visitors in awe.
The vast expanse and serene landscape seem to dissolve all worries and troubles, offering a peaceful retreat.
To reach Nam Cang, visitors have the option to rent a motorbike in Sa Pa and enjoy a leisurely ride through the villages, eventually arriving at the Red Dao ethnic people’s village nestled within the Hoang Lien Son range.
The cost of renting a motorbike typically falls between VND100,000 (US$4.21) and VND170,000 ($7.16) per day.

Visiting Nam Cang in the final week of July, Hoang Thuy Duong from Hanoi expressed her admiration for the stunning rice season this year.
“Even though I have visited Sa Pa multiple times, my affection for this place remains as strong as my first visit,” Duong said.
“The weather here is truly remarkable.
“If you plan to explore Nam Cang during this period, it’s best to don lightweight, white, pink, or brocade clothing to have stunning photographs."

In addition to Nam Cang, the terraced fields in Nam Than Village in Lien Minh Commune, Muong Hoa Valley in Muong Hoa Commune, Ta Phin Village in Ta Phin Commune, and Ta Van Village of Ta Van Commune are also gearing up to showcase their vibrant beauty in September, offering visitors a wide selection of destinations for their sightseeing trip during the enchanting rice season in Sa Pa.
Apart from enjoying the sight of ripe rice fields, visitors can engage in various activities, such as cycling through the villages, experiencing medicinal herb baths of the Red Dao people, exploring Nam Pa Stream, and stand-up paddling at Y Linh Ho Village.
Furthermore, when visiting Sa Pa this season, tourists can have the opportunity to explore numerous other remarkable destinations, including Fansipan Peak, Cat Cat Village, Sa Pa Stone Church, O Quy Ho Pass, Silver Waterfall, and Love Waterfall.
