Ha Long Bay in northern Vietnam’s Quang Ninh Province has been placed in the top 24 destinations for travel in 2024 by luxury travel experts at OvationNetwork, a U.S.-based travel agency specializing in high-class and experiential travel.

“The unprecedented demand for travel we saw last year continued in 2023, and when the new year comes, people will be looking for a deeper, more experiential connection with destinations that are off the beaten path,” Forbes cited Zane Bohrer, vice-president and general manager of OvationNetwork, as commenting.

In that spirit, OvationNetwork has prepared its exclusive list shared with Forbes, highlighting a list of 24 must-go destinations worldwide for 2024, including Ha Long Bay, which is ranked 24th in the list announced on Sunday.

Topping the list is Sardinia, the second-largest island in Italy, which lures travelers with its luxurious Costa Smeralda, immaculate beaches, and high-end boutique shops.

Sardinia was followed by Urla, a quiet Aegean coastal town of Turkey, and Niseko, an unforgettable winter destination outside of the usual U.S. or European spots.

As a mix of natural beauty, outdoor activity, fresh food, tranquility and accessibility, Ha Long Bay is one of the most unique ecosystems and geological formations in the world, according to Forbes.

The bay was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994 and named among the world’s new seven wonders of nature by Swiss-based New Open World Corporation in 2011.

“Whether you’re a history buff, a nature enthusiast, a foodie, or an adventure seeker, Ha Long Bay has something to offer everyone,” Andrew Lewis Harrison, a travel advisor, commented.

“The unique rock formations made up of limestone karsts and islets add to the magic of this unduplicated location.”

Visiting the bay via a junk boat excursion is a unique experience every traveler should not miss, Forbes said.

Endowed with clear blue water and more than 1,900 large and small islands, creating magnificent and fascinating scenery, the bay is a destination not to be missed for those who love exploring nature.

Tourists can take sightseeing tours by boat to indulge themselves in enjoying the quiet, romantic atmosphere of the elegant place.

Visitors can also experience impressive moments when taking special tours using helicopters and hydroplanes to contemplate the bay from above.
