Cherry-like apricot blossoms start to dye Da Lat pink on New Year

Visitors to the Central Highlands city of Da Lat in recent days have been treated with stunning ‘mai anh dao’ (cherry-like apricot blossoms) which started to bloom since late December.

The flowers have seen its full bloom in the outlying area around Da Lat such as Xuan Truong and Tram Hanh communes and the neighboring Lac Duong District’s Lat and Da Nhim communes, where have lots of perennial trees.

‘Mai and dao’ flowers are expected to continue blossoming in the area during a week, making New Year holiday the best time to come and see.

The flowers are often found on mountains or gardens of K’Ho and Cil ethnic people groups.

In the next few weeks, visitors to downtown Da Lat can also enjoy the beauty of ‘mai anh dao’ on streets including Tran Hung Dao, Hung Vuong, Trieu Viet Vuong, Quang Trung and Ho Tung Mau.

The areas surrounding Xuan Huong Lake and Tuyen Lam Lake are also perfect places to see ‘mai anh dao’ blossoming.

‘Mai anh dao,’ which has become a signature of the Central Highlands city, often has its leaves completely falling down during its blossom season, creating a unique picture from the pink shade of the blooming flowers.

Predicting a sharply increase in the number of tourists visiting the city in the next two to three weeks, the People’s Committee in Da Lat has advised tourists to make hotel booking before arrivals.
