More than 15,000 individuals took part in the S-Race 2024, a running competition for students, in Thua Thien-Hue Province, central Vietnam on Saturday morning.
The S-Race 2024 featured three age groups for middle school students aged 11 to 14, high school students aged 15 to 17, and college students aged 18 to 23.
The race distances varied, with male college and high school students covering three kilometers, while male middle school students and all female students ran 1.5 kilometers.
Thousands of students, teachers, and parents gathered at Ngo Mon Square in Hue City early in the morning to prepare for the race.
Ha Nhan Duyen, a sophomore at the University of Law under Hue University, expressed excitement for the event, emphasizing its significance for personal growth and physical fitness.
“I’m participating in the S-Race for the second time; the first one was in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, and I’m still very excited this time,” Duyen said.

Thirteen prizes were awarded based on individual and collective achievements, with a total prize pool of VND396 million ($16,000).
More than 15,000 students from across Thua Thien-Hue Province participated in the race in the morning, with multiple starting points including schools in Phu Loc District, Phong Dien District, and Huong Thuy Town.
Nguyen Tan, director of the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien-Hue Province, highlighted the scenic route starting from Ngo Mon Square, promoting Hue City’s gentle, poetic, and hospitable image.
“The event aims to encourage sports participation, improve people's health, and foster community connections among Vietnam’s youth,” Tan said.
