The musical fountain at the March 29 Square in Da Nang City became one of the most visited destinations in this central Vietnamese city on Tuesday evening, one day before the end of the five-day holiday commemorating Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1).

Lots of local residents and visitors flocked to the square quite early to wait for a water and light show to start at the musical fountain.

Among the early birds, Vo Van Dang said that his family traveled to Da Nang from Quang Ngai Province, about 145km southward, to enjoy the holiday and were recommended by hotel staff to explore this musical fountain in the evening.

The design, light, and landscape of the dancing fountain were amazing, according to the visitor.

Thousands of people gathered around the fountain at about 8:00 pm, when a light and water show began, with several kids even playing in the water in the fountain.

The show lasted quite long, featuring many songs whose melodies moved in sync with the water.

Tran Huyen Tran, hailing from neighboring Thua Thien-Hue Province, shared that she was impressed by the large, airy square as well as the amazing musical fountain.

As part of the March 29 Square upgrade and expansion project, the musical fountain, which carried a price tag of nearly VND10 billion (US$403,000), is operating on a trial basis.

The dancing fountain spans 600 square meters and features 24 songs.
