Festival introduces traditional snacks of Vietnam

The Traditional Southern Snack Festival is taking place in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from Thursday to April 11, displaying hundreds of traditional snacks from various localities across Vietnam.

Nearly 100 different kinds of Vietnam's traditional snacks that are not only esthetically pleasing but also mouth-watering are being offered to visitors from 200 booths at the festival, which is in its ninth edition and centered around 'Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Southern Snacks.”

Its opening ceremony was held at the Binh Thuy District Square in Binh Thuy Ward of Can Tho City on Thursday, marking the return of the annual food fest that had been suspended for two years due to COVID-19.

The festival is part of a series of cultural and tourism events being organized in Binh Thuy District, Can Tho, including the inauguration of the Hung Kings Temple and the third national festival of Don Ca Tai Tu, a traditional musical art of southern Vietnam.

In addition to traditional snacks, many stalls displayed and introduced raw materials and baking tools to make them.

Artisans and snack makers also participated in a cake making competition.

The number of visitors to the festival was estimated to reach thousands on its first day.
