A street art show with the participation of professional artists, mass art groups, and local people took place in Hoi An Ancient Town, located in the namesake city of the central Vietnamese province of Quang Nam, from Monday afternoon until the evening of the same day.
The show, themed ‘Awakened Hoi An,’ was organized by the Center for Culture, Sports, Radio & Television of Hoi An in collaboration with the community of local enterprises, according to the People’s Committee of Hoi An City.
A large number of artists and boats were mobilized for performances in the show, which are excerpts from the night performing arts program at Hoi An Memory Theme Park.
In addition, as many as 200 students with lanterns in their hands marched on pedestrian streets in the ancient town.

The performers started at the Hoai River square at 5:30 pm, and walked in a long line through Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Tran Phu, Hoang Van Thu, and Bach Dang Streets before ending the journey at An Hoi Bridge, where decorative lanterns were lighted up at the same time, creating a magnificent scene.
To onlookers’ surprise, many local people, including Vietnamese citizens and expatriates, donning Vietnam’s traditional ‘ao dai’ and ‘khan dong’ -- a kind of turban worn by Vietnamese people which was popular in the past -- and holding lanterns from houses along the streets joined the march.

At the town’s iconic Cau (Bridge) Pagoda, the artists gave a large crowd of people and tourists superb performances.
This is the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak struck Vietnam that Hoi An Ancient Town has been bustling with such an activity.

It is planned that the street art show will be regularly organized on every weekend afterward.
“The pandemic has taken away too much of Hoi An. More than ever, the ancient town is in need of these close-knit activities to attract visitors,” said Hoi An City’s chairman Nguyen Van Son.
