Many hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City are offering rapid COVID-19 testing services, while confirmatory tests can only be conducted at healthcare facilities authorized by the Ministry of Health.

Residents in the southern city are now required to test negative for the novel coronavirus if they wish to travel to other localities.

These residents can either register for a rapid antigen test or a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) one, which takes a longer time but provides a more accurate result.

The Ministry of Heath has set the price for rapid antigen testing at VND238,000 (US$10.3) and real-time RT-PCR testing at VND734,000 ($31).

The Ho Chi Minh City health department on Tuesday tasked all hospitals and medical centers administered by 21 districts and Thu Duc City with providing rapid COVID-19 screening services to meet rising demands from citizens.

Aside from these hospitals, people can also be tested at 175 Military Hospital in Go Vap District, as well as 7A Military Hospital, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, and the Quality Control Center for Medical Laboratory in District 5.

Three hospitals in Thu Duc City have also established testing sites at the headquarters of Thu Duc City Children’s House at 281 Vo Van Ngan Street, as well as its two branches at 200 Nguyen Duy Trinh Street and 2/2B Ho Thi Tu Street.

Several private clinics and hospitals also conduct rapid COVID-19 tests, including Medic Medical Center, FV Hospital, and Vinmec Central Park International Hospital among some others.

Those whose rapid COVID-19 tests return positive are promptly quarantined and required to undergo real-time RT-PCR tests for confirmatory results.
